Kizomba

Evolution

Kizomba, meaning fiesta, is a partner dance that originated in Angola, Africa and is often danced by family members during parties. Partners are formed and rotated through in class as well as on the dance floor, so there is no need to bring a dance partner in order to participate.

Kizomba evolved from a dance called Semba, and has kept evolving, traveling around the globe and developing into other off shoots, namely Tarraxinha, Urban Kiz and Tarraxo. These are all danced to different types of music, and they are easily blended throughout a night of social dancing.
